Strategic Plan 2019-2024 – Behind the Scenes


From the very beginning it was a very inclusive
process and I think involving the frontline staff made it a collective conversation that
allowed to connect the grassroots of the organization with senior decision makers and the process
created the environment where we could, well we really felt involved and we could explore
what really drives us, our values, what’s important for us and how we want to improve
our work. It was a great feeling to be part of this
and the reason why is because it felt that I was making a difference being able to go
ahead and talk about the different things that were going on and people were actually
listening to what we were talking about and that was very important throughout the organization. We’re the ones that see the patient for
the first time, we’re involved directly with patient care and if we want to see change
in patient care we need to get involved. I mean we’re all here because of patients
so any strategic directions will certainly affect patients so I certainly wanted to be
a part of that and in fact we had a whole session with advisors where they were able
to talk about what they felt a strategic plan should have. They’re the consumers of the planning and
how people are prioritizing various directions here at the hospital so it’s very important
that patients be a part of that plan. It should be the way strategic plans are built
in the future, all the time.
