QUT – Golden Key International Honour Society

My names is Lauren Crome and I’m the president
of the QUT Golden Key Chapter for 2012. Hi, my name is Jodie Lee and I’m the QUT
Golden Key Chapter Treasurer for 2012. The Golden Key International Honour Society
was first established to recognise scholastic achievement and to promote leadership. It’s a non-profit group that seeks to make
a positive contribution to society by being actively involved in community service events. Golden Key’s mission is to enable members
to realise their potential through the advancement of academics, leadership and service. Before joining Golden Key my university life
existed of pretty much just attending classes and coming in for assessment and then going
home again. By becoming a member of Golden Key you gain
much more than a line on your resume. You become part of something greater an extended
network of mentors, peers and connections, all working together towards a common goal. Joining the Golden Key really helped me to
grow personally in my professional development and it also helped broaden my overall experience
by really getting out there and becoming involved in activities that the Golden Key Chapter
runs here on campus. Membership of Golden Key is through invitation
only and is offered to the top 15 percent of University students who have completed
at least 1 year of studies. Being a member of Golden Key gives you access
to meeting people across different disciplines. You get to participate in events around campus
and this is a great thing to be able to talk to employers about when you apply for work. Golden Key enables you to become an active
member of society and to give back to those less fortunate than yourselves and it is only
when you become actively involved in Golden Key that you can really obtain the benefits.
