Finding Empathy through Service

Finding Empathy through Service

We’re bringing our kids out to a
different community in our state trying to give back to that community the
county that we’re in right now is one of the poorest counties in the state I don’t want them personally knowing that I did it or like that we did anything I want them to know that people came down
here we actually cared about what was going on in their community and we
wanted to do something about it and like people are actually here to help them
like you want to do it for them not for us. I think once you you you get that
understanding of what poverty is you really give you a heart to serve and I
think that’s exactly what they’re doing today. Service is so important to me
because being a student here at Milton Hershey School I’ve been given so much and so many opportunities and I want to make sure that other kids younger than me or my age can get that same opportunity that I do. Pennsylvania’s a heavily
impoverished state and it’s hard to believe that there are people that are
gonna go to bed in this state that don’t know where their next meal is going to
come from. There’s been times where my family was close to not being able to put food on the table my mom had
to work two jobs to help put food on the table so I definitely feel like what
we’re doing can help and change somebody’s life.
