Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Inpatient Center – Boys Town National Research Hospital

I’d like to welcome you all here to
our Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Inpatient Center. One of the things
that’s important about Boys Town is that for the last 100 years we’ve been about
changing the way America cares for children and families and as we’ve done
that we began to build a continuum of care. These are different levels of care
for the kids with different problems. This is a very secure facility. A safe haven for
kids in crisis. We provide immediate intervention for that child that’s an
immediate danger to themselves or others and it’s a comfortable environment but
very safe. Our length of stay is going to be around 7 to 11 days so we want to
do a full psychiatric evaluation and we want these children to leave with a plan,
a safety plan and a plan for connecting with somebody if they don’t have a
provider already, or we will reach out to their providers if they do have
someone. As a physician in our community. I think it’s critical to have these
kinds of community resources that are shared across the community and we stand
ready to help. The facility is beautiful but sometimes the things that happen in
kids and families lives aren’t and having Boys Town as a resource to those
families I think gives reality to the slogan of saving children and healing
families.
